How does your faith strengthen? What are the processes by which a person’s faith grows rather than fades?
Today, as we continue in our series on, Preparing for Love’s Arrival, this Christmas season, we come upon a rather famous passage of Scripture that is often quoted this time of year (Isaiah 7:14). It’s the passage of Scripture where the prophet Isaiah in the Old Testament says on behalf of God, “Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).” This is the very same passage that one of Jesus’ disciples, Matthew, (who wrote the New Testament book entitled, “Matthew”), quoted with regard to Jesus’ birth to the Virgin Mary (Matthew 1:23).
But, what is nestled around this verse in the preceding verses that lead up to it? What is going on in the context of ancient Israel when Isaiah makes this prophecy? Well, let’s take a look:
